SCSD Nutrition Program Changes

December 15, 2025

December 15, 2025

Springville CSD Families:

Springville Community School District has been utilizing TotalK12 to manage student lunch accounts for the past few years. Unfortunately, we were notified that TotalK12 will no longer be an option for school districts effective December 31, 2025.

In light of this information, we are pleased to share with you that Springville will be transitioning to a program called Meal Magic to manage student lunch accounts effective Monday, December 15th. Meal Magic is a modern system that was recommended to us and is utilized by several school districts across the state of Iowa. Obviously with any change in systems, there will some changes in features and functionality. At the bottom of this page you will find some Q&A information to address issues as they come up.

To ensure a smooth transition, all parents/guardians will be required to create a Meal Magic Family Portal account starting 12:00 pm Monday, December 15th. Creating an account will allow families to make nutrition account payments as well as manage students’ lunch balances and activity. Once a parent/guardian Family Portal account is created, students can be added to the account. The nutrition department will have to approve your request but once that's done, you'll be good to. You will no longer make school lunch payments through RevTrak.

*Note: Payments for accounts can be made using the Meal Magic program OR can be made by turning in a check/cash to the school (option to avoid any fees).

In order to access directions as well as the link to create your account, please visit the following link which can also be found on the Springville CSD Homepage: Springville Meal Magic Login. This site will also have links to How-To Videos and Instructions. One piece of information you will need is your student’s student ID. Student IDs can be found by logging into PowerSchool and clicking on the “Other Information” icon on the left navigation panel. If you have trouble finding the student ID, please contact the appropriate building office.

Thank you for understanding as we make this exciting transition to Meal Magic. We’re confident you’ll find the new system to be a positive change. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the program, please contact Michele McCoy (mmccoy@springville.k12.ia.us or 319-854-6196 ext. 1105).

Q: Can you explain the way accounts are setup when I have multiple students?
A: In our previous system, all students in a family had a connected account so when money was deposited, it went to a famiy fund. In Meal Magic, this is currently not an option and therefore, each student will have a separate account. While parents will be able to have multiple students connected to their account, each student has their own account. Therefore, lunch balances, etc. will be viewed by student. This is important to know because depending on the age of the student as well as if a student gets breakfast/lunch or purchases extra, the account balance for one student may change more quickly than a sibling. Here are some notes or suggestions:

  • When making deposits online, you only have to do a singular deposit, even if you have multiple students. Once deposited, you can then shift funds from one students to the others. This should assist in minimizing deposit fees.
  • If sending funds in via check or cash, the nutrition staff will equally distribute funds between students on the family account. You can have these funds distributed in the manner you wish by sending a note with the funds as to how you want that split to look (i.e. X dollars in student A's account, Y dollars in student B's account).
  • Regardless of the method used, you are always able to access your online account and redistribute funds regardless of a check or electronic deposit. Therefore, if you get a low balance for one of your students, you can go in and shift money around if you'd like.
