High School's Principal Message
Nick Merritt, Principal
Welcome to Springville--home of the Orioles. Our focus is to achieve academic excellence along with instilling in all students the importance of doing their personal best. We provide a wide variety of activities that are attractive to all students who attend our school, whether it be fine arts, athletics, drama, and speech.
This is my first year as the principal at Springville Secondary School. Prior to being a principal, I taught Computer Science at Franklin Middle School in Cedar Rapids for four years and also taught Business Education at Springville for three years prior to that. I earned my Bachelor's Degree from UNI in 2005 in Business Teaching and my Master's Degree from UNI in 2011 in PK-12 Principalship/Director of Special Education. Additionally, this will be my fifth season as the varsity boys' basketball coach.
As an alum and former teacher of Springville, I understand all of the great things that Springville has to offer and look forward to continuing those and adding some more to that. In addition to what the school has to offer academically and from a co-curricular standpoint, Springville has an amazing community, great parents and students, and an extremely hard-working staff. Being a member of this school and community is an honor and I look forward to serving both in a positive manner.
