Crisis Procedures
Soft Lockdown
Scenarios – Medical emergency, unknown person becomes confrontational, animal loose on the property, drug dog inspection.
Students and staff response – Listen for instructions, move to nearest classroom, close the classroom door, take attendance, continue normal classroom instruction until receiving further instructions.
Hard Lockdown
Scenarios – Armed intruder, hostage situation
Students and staff response – Listen for instructions, move to nearest classroom, close and lock the classroom door, move students to a safe location, take attendance, and remain Locked, Dark, Hidden, Quiet until given instructions to resume normal operation.
Evacuation/Relocation
Scenarios – Fire, earthquake that damages school, flood that poses a safety threat, natural gas leak, utility loss or failure, suspicious substance/package, structural failure, credible bomb threat or danger is imminent
Students and staff response – Listen for fire alarm or instructions. Follow designated routes and report to designated evacuation site. If immediate, temporary relocation is necessary, staff and students would walk to either the elementary or secondary building. If both buildings are compromised the alternate reunification site is St. Isidore Church. Parents will receive a call at their contact numbers to share further information. Parents: Please maintain updated contact information in case of emergencies.
Shelter in Place
Scenarios – Tornado, earthquake, hazardous materials release [severe and outside the building]
Students and staff response – Listen to instructions, move all students to designated shelter-in-place site. Remain at site until all-clear is announced.
Parents/Crisis
Always stop by the office upon entering the building at any time of the day to sign in and get a visitor’s pass. Please also sign out before leaving. In any case scenario listed above, we use these registration logs to account for all visitors in the building.
