The Scoop on Mrs. Ceynar
I attended Center Point High School from 1980 - 1984. I graduated from Center Point High School and went on to attend Mount Mercy College for 1 year. From Mount Mercy college I went on to attend The University of Iowa were I graduated in 1988.
My first teaching position was in a preschool classroom teaching 3 and 4 year olds at Linn County Day Care and St. Paul's Preschool. I then applied for a half time preschool position at Springville Elementary. After spending time in the preschool classroom, I then applied for the kindergarten position and was hired on to teach kindergarten in 1997. Since 1997 I have taught preschool, kindergarten and first grade. This year, there are 17 children in the classroom. We have 4 boys and 13 girls. We are already working on letters, sounds, numbers and building our reading stamina. We have practiced two ways to read a book, reading the pictures and/or reading the words during our "Read To Self" reading block time. Our goal is to build our reading stamina until we can read independently and quietly for 10 minutes. The children are doing a great job!
I have been married for 21 years and my husband Brian and I have 2 children. Caitlin is 18 and a Freshman at Kirkwood Community College and Dylan is 16 and a Junior at Prairie High school . We planned a graduation party this year for the first time and I am wondering where the time has gone! We also have 1 very spoiled cat named Dexter. My family spends a lot of time traveling the country to watch Dylan play hockey. We have been able to go to many different states and even up to Canada. This year Dylan will be looking for a new team to play on.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year.
